My entry for the Grand Space Opera : Light Age Challenge. I present the Brain Tree Robot - Scott Variant. I want to thank https://www.artstation.com/dragonwarrior (Lucian Acatrinei) for the fantastic concept. This was my first artstation challenge entry and it was so motivating to see other talented artists create pieces along side mine. I followed Jason Hill’s Character Creation Course for the textures as well as a few youtube videos and marmoset tutorials to get my final renders. I messaged Lucian at the start of the project and asked for permission, some backstory and inspiration and they had mentioned the phrase “robotic flying flower pot” which I fell in love with. Lucian had mentioned that the entire mech body was controlled by a sentient brain tree so I created a combination of tree bark and cerebral cortex in the tree texture.
