Bremen– Hamburg– Lubeck by Arthur Bock3D Model
A group of three women symbolizes the Hanseatic cities of Bremen, Hamburg and Lübeck. The women are camped together and close together on a pedestal, one seated, one kneeling, one half reclining. They are only lightly covered with a cloth, while the upper bodies are unclothed. The left figure carries in his hand the model of a historical cog. The harmony between the cities is visible through the physical proximity and familiarity.
Arthur Bock was born in Leipzig on May 12, 1875. From 1894-1897 he was at the School of Arts and Crafts in Dresden and from 1897-1900 at the Royal Academy in Berlin. From 1903 he worked for 40 years as an art professor in Hamburg and taught at the renowned private painting school of Gerda Koppel.
