Brewery Cellar Bierkeller Williamsburg Brooklyn 3D Model
This is a 3D model of four interconnecting, subterranean brick and stone vaults, built ca. 1859 in Williamsburg Brooklyn, to age and store the beer of an adjacent brewery. The developer discovered them while trenching for a new building and contacted my archaeological consulting firm, Celia J. Bergoffen Ph.D. RPA. I informed the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC), which recommended archaeological assessment. My report determined that the vaults were historically significant and should be fully uncovered documented. The property history and monitoring report are available online through the LPC’s website. https://www1.nyc.gov/site/lpc/about/archaeology-reports.page
Matthias Kolbe Ph.D., Researcher, German Archaeological Institute (DAI), Berlin, created the 3D model using Petr Hejl drone video of the exterior, and interior photos and video taken by Celia J. Bergoffen, Adjunct Associate Prof., Fashion Institute of Technology, and Arnulf Hausleiter Ph.D., Researcher, DAI, Berlin.
