James Lang described this crosshead fragment as ‘a brave and clumsy copy of the sub-group of plate-heads exemplified by no. 11’. It is placed at the top of a column in Durham Cathedral Museum, giving a good impression of the angle at which it was intended to be viewed, but accounting for the top of the model resembling a bald toupé.
