Buddhist Acoustic Instruments
Buddhist acoustic instruments are believed to convey the sound of Buddha’s voice, which refers to the words of Buddha and every sound that is made as an offering to Buddhas and bodhisattvas. The four acoustic instruments for creating Buddha’s voice, known as the “Four Buddhist Objects”, are a bell, a Dharma drum, a wooden fish (a percussion instrument), and a cloud-shaped gong. In addition, a different type of bronze gong was used in some Buddhist rituals or to signal the meal time.
