More model informationThis triangular bronze dagger is an emblematic object of the “Rhone Culture” and dates back to the beginning of the Bronze Age, around 2000 B.C. About twenty massive bronze daggers of this type are known in Western Switzerland, including four discovered in the “Bois-de-Vaux” in Lausanne.
The handle of this specimen consists of a bronze shaft on which alternating contrasting metal bands, made of two different alloys, create a decorative effect. This dagger comes from a batch of 19 bronze objects from several tombs discovered during enlargement works carried out in 1942 in the Lausanne cemetery of the Bois-de-Vaux. Lenght 26 cm. Scan Onsitu.
