More model informationThis is a pear-shaped oil lamp with a circular footstand, fitted with chains for suspension found at Loudon Hill. It has a double-looped handle, surmounted by a crescent-shaped ornament and three rings for the attachment of chains. There is a separate ring for linking chains at the point of hanging at the top.
The Antonine Wall stretched right across Scotland, from the Clyde to the Forth. Constructed around 142 AD, and occupied for only 20 years, the remains of its ramparts, steep ditches, forts and bathhouses are still visible today.
