Carving in Buck Wood, Thackley, Bradford, West Yorkshire.
The largest of the dozen or so carved boulders found during surveys carried out by the volunteer group ‘Friends of Buck Wood’ in 2009. In addition to carvings their surveys indentified a probable Iron Age enclosure and stretches of walling. A HLF grant was given to excavate the area in 2009 and finds included querns and flints.
Motifs consist of several cups, two with long linear grooves.
Recorded in Keith Boughey’s regional rock art archive as 10b and is one of the 9 carvings covered in the 2016 Historic England scheduling: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1429927
The stone resides outside the CSI:Rombalds Moor Project survey area and does not have an ERA record.
Model created from 17 stereo pairs captured in December 2009.
