The Hard, under the control of Master shipbuilder Henry Adams was responsible for building many famous ships during the late 18th century and early 19th centuries. These included HMS Euryalus, HMS Swiftsure and HMS Agamemnon, all of which fought at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. The focus of the archaeological excavations (during the festival of archaeology) are three potential buildings recorded on old maps that potentially survive as faint platforms. Trench 3 was targeted on a building marked on both the 1815 and 1845 map within the main shipyard area http://hist-met.org/images/pdf/HMSdatasheet303.pdf A detailed report and analysis is currently being created and there will be a link to this when completed - tba
