Bunratty East - CL062-001005 - Sheela-na-Gig3D Model
This figure is set into the S window in the hall of Bunratty Castle Co. Clare. It was moved from the inner reveal of a window in the top room in the SW of the tower (Caimin O’Brien/Michael Moore Archaeology.ie). The Carving is set on a rectangular stone The head is bald, oval with a thick uni-eyebrow, rectangular nose and circular eyes (Left larger) The mouth is open and shows teeth. Rounded chin. The neck is very slim descending from the centre behind the chin. The arms are bent with behind the legs in an O shape. The legs are spread outwards, bent at the knees with feet pointed out. The breast are sub-circular extending from the clavicle. The body is flat and not well defined. It is pear shaped. The hands are gripping the vulva which is distended and open.
