解説 / Description:
江戸時代は基本的に金・銀・銭の3種の貨幣が使用された。相場は日々変わるが、1両はおよそ4000文から6000文程で、現代の価格に換算すると10万円程。1819年の改鋳に伴い発行されたこの小判は、裏面に草書で「文」とあるため、草文小判と呼ばれる。

In the Edo period, there were basically three types of coins used: gold, silver, and copper coins. One ryō was approximately 4,000 - 6,000 mon, or about 100,000 yen in modern terms. This koban, issued in conjunction with the 1819 recasting, was called a “sōmon koban” because the character “mon” was written in sōsho cursive script on the back.
