Burgi Geo Broch, Yell 3D Model
Burgi Geo Broch is in the north east corner of Yell (island), Shetland Isles, Scotland. The broch is situated about 20metres above the sea overlooking the Bluemull Sound to Unst. A deep narrow cleft (Geo) in the cliff face penetrates inland upto a stone reveted rampart and reveals a section through a defensive ditch. The broch survives as a stony turf covered mound, with evidence of outer defensive ramparts and ditches.
In simplistic terms a broch is a domestic stone tower built in the Iron Age, most brochs were occupied 2000 years ago.
The model was produced from some vertical kite aerial photographs, there was not enough wind on the site to allow the coverage I was hoping to achieve.
