More model informationThe cabin or stateroom trunk is small enough to fit under a seat and would be equivalent to a carry-on suitcase today. This type of trunk would have tray compartments for storing valuables. The piece has the initials J.S.S.O on the side, but these initials are not able to be matched to any family member and it is unclear of the origin of the truck. This smaller cabin truck was with larger steamer trunks in collections at the Moseley Homestead in Brandon, Florida. The trunk likely was used when the family relocated to Florida from Illinois in 1882.
