During the restoration of Upminster Windmill all details and measurements are being recorded carefully, this being the first time in 213 years that it has been possible to do so. As the work progresses a new model is being created based on the true data obtained during the work, including many of the usually hidden details. Here the model shows the main beams and curb assembly of the cap and fantail. Some of the original timbers have been retained (darker brown) with new timber grafted on as repairs. Parts of the assembly have been duplicated to give an exploded view and show details otherwise hidden.
