More model informationDuring the historic low level of the Mississippi River in 2012, a small shipwreck was revealed along the banks at Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Initially it was thought to be a common barge, but over time erosion has revealed components that show the vessel was self-propelled. It looks to have been built around the turn of the century, or as late as the 1920’s. Research to better understand this mystery wreck will continue on the site as river levels allow. For now, it is an interesting aspect of the history and archaeology of Mississippi River watercraft.
