Carboniferous Coral #1 3D Model
Specimen: Unidentified species of coral
Locality: Bloyd/Hale Formation or Atoka Formation, Cherokee county, Oklahoma, USA
Age: Carboniferous, Pennsylvanian early to middle
This lobe of coral once sat at the bottom of a shallow sea that covered much of what is now the United States of America.
For who knows how long, these coral polyps built their fortress in that ocean surrounded by crinoids, bryozoans, brachiopods, perhaps even a few trilobites or sharks.
