Dive into the ancient oceans with this photogrammetric model of a fossil shark tooth. The tooth
pertained to Megalodon (Otodus megalodon), an awe-inspiring giant mackerel shark that
roamed the seas from the Early Miocene to the Pliocene, approximately 23 to 3.6 million years
ago. Known for its massive size (up to 20 m in length) and aptly named for its “big tooth,” the
Megalodon remains one of the most fascinating extinct marine predators.
This specimen was collected nearby the village of Dego (Liguria, NW Italy).
This model was realized by Glenda Cantale during the Universal Civil Service (SCU) at the Genoa University.
