More model informationThis door lock is a cast iron vertical rim lock and was discovered in an archaeological survey of a household trash disposal area at the Moseley Homestead property. The homestead is a National Register of Historic Places site in Brandon, Florida. Rim locks are an old type of lock used on wood frames typically having a single lever and sliding bolt. These locks are large and key styles are typically skeleton keys. This piece is highly corroded, and was recovered in an excavation unit at the site.
