Castel del Monte is a 13th-century fortress built by Frederick II of Swabia on top of a hill at 540 meters above sea level in the Apulian plateau of the western Murge. It is located in Andria, Puglia. It is recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and represents a masterpiece of medieval military architecture.
