Die Ruine der Burg Ramstein steht auf einem 182 Meter hohen Buntsandsteinfelsen im unteren Kylltal bei Kordel in Rheinland-Pfalz und gehört zum Typus der Höhenburg. Zu Beginn des 14. Jahrhunderts durch den Trierer Erzbischof Diether von Nassau errichtet, war sie fortan eine kurtrierische Lehensburg. 1689 wurde die Anlage von französischen Soldaten besetzt und gesprengt. The ruins of Ramstein Castle stand on a 182-metre-high red sandstone rock in the lower Kyll valley near Kordel in Rhineland-Palatinate and belong to the type of hilltop castle. Built at the beginning of the 14th century by the Archbishop of Trier, Diether von Nassau, it was henceforth a fiefdom of the Electorate of Trier.
