Cave 1 is a relatively small cave located just outside of Castleton, at the entrance of Cave Dale (See Map). The observations from this fieldwork show the cave would of once been part of the larger system that was once here, initially formed by glacial meltwater carving a deep narrow valley in the local soluble limestone, and as such destroying the earlier caves.
As seen from (Figure 21) the fire identified was located at the back of the cave, with a sample being collected from above it and another just by the entrance.
Overall, the results from cave 1 were across the ball comparative to other varying results from this study, except for an exceptionally low Sr result, of which no conclusion can be drawn due; exempt for maybe the Sr issues experienced in this study.
