CTCF contains a tandem array of 11 zinc fingers, which bind to DNA’s major groove through base-specific hydrogen bonds with a particular residue. This protein is involved in a wide variety of activities inside the genome. It works together with other proteins to enhance or repress gene expression by influencing protein-protein or protein-RNA interactions.
