The Takhion is late-Soviet-era track racing bike that has gained worldwide fame. It was a special model of bicycle from Kharkov, Ukraine, in former-USSR. Several USSR National Championships, and at least one World Championship, have been won on Takhion.
The task was to create a photorealistic asset of bicycle with polycount 100k tris. In this work I wanted to pay more attention to texturing. The model was divided into 3 UV sets: Frame; Spare Parts; Wheels. For a texture 4096х4096, the average texel density was - 52 px/cm. A huge number of references were used for the work. Working with references is one of the key requirements for creating PBR materials and photorealistic textures. For each part of the bike I searched for images, videos and photos on Google, thematic forums, auctions and social media.
