In 1937, the students of the military academy, which moved from Tokyo to this area, made it a daily routine to go to the Yohaisho every morning and worship at the Imperial Palace, Meiji Jingu, Ise Jingu, and their respective hometowns. This azimuth board was the most important place in the school because it displayed the direction for worshiping from afar and the direction of major cities in Japan and overseas, the Korean Peninsula, and the northeastern part of China.

昭和12年(1937)東京から当地に移転した陸軍士官学校の生徒は、毎朝遥拝所赴き、皇居・明治神宮・伊勢神宮及び各々の故郷に向かって遥拝するのが日課であった。この方位盤は、その遥拝するための方位と、国内外・朝鮮半島・中国東北部の主要都市の方位を表示したもので、校内でも最重要な場所であった
