Celtic cross of bronze/gold. Viking age3D Model
Part of a grave find. Celtic cross of bronze plated with gold. Three arms, of which the middle one is longer and more curved than the two side arms. Circular center part with a three-leafed flower in the middle. The arms and center have a simple check and ribbon braid pattern in Celtic style. On the fourth, top side of the cross, there are two protruding loops, as if for a pendant or fitting. The left arm also has a hinge on the back, which is now broken. A corresponding hem may also have been at the end of the right arm. The bronze is oxidized and highly dissolved. The cross is probably a fitting from a horse bissel or book fitting that has been turned into jewellery.
Dated to: aprox 800 A.D. Found during excavation in 2008. Location: Hålandsmarka, Time K, Rogaland - Norway. Museums ID: S12453a
