Chalk weight

A large number of perforated stones (chalk) were recovered from this site and have been interpreted as weights. They could have been used on a ‘Skolt-Lappish’ loom where the warp threads were attached to a rod or pole that was weighed down with a weight at each end and possibly in the middle. Alternatively, the weights could be thatch weights, that relate to the architectural style of structures on site.
