More model informationOnce the capital city of the Chimú civilization, Chan Chan flourished on the northern coast of Peru between the 12th and 15th centuries. The massive mud brick metropolis was centered around nine rectangular citadels or palaces. Palacio Tschudi, one of the largest includes palaces, a large reservoir, funerary platforms and places for offerings surrounded by a tall thick mud wall.
Tschudi contains an area of U-shaped audiencias or ritual rooms which controlled access to the storerooms. These are around 4 square metres, had elevated floors and, originally, gabled roofs and are believed to have been where offerings may have been stored.
