More model informationCe chandelier est caractéristique du savoir-faire exceptionnel des artisans égyptiens de l’époque mamelouke (13e-16e siècle apr. J.-C.). Le Caire est alors un centre majeur de production d’objets en métal, une production de luxe destinée à un usage privé.
Ce chandelier d’une vingtaine de cm était destiné à un haut personnage, appartenant sans doute à l’entourage d’un sultan mamlouk du 13e siècle. Produit à partir de feuilles de cuivre, il présente un décor très riche obtenu par incrustation de fils de différents métaux.
