Another test scan with a phone, this time to try out Retopology techniques, material processing and delighting of the textures. The amount of images comes around a 1000, too many to allow the subject to move around and disrupt the texture captures.
There were persisting issues with the hands in the software, leading to the decision at first to model them seperately and attach them. But after some time of work on the other parts of the scan, It didn’t seem worth it to try and fix this model as it has many flaws from the start.
For the retopology part, I tried to maintain a low poly count without losing any of the detail in the creases, leading to a weird topology overall in the shirt and pants. I will try out some animations on the model to see how bad the topology will be compared to straight flows (at a cost of losing detail in the creases) for animation purposes.
All what I have learned from working on this will be used on the next character scan test.
