More model informationThe 163 ft steambarge Charles Street was built in 1888 and typically towed two or three schooner barges on its transits – one being the Jeremiah Godfrey. On its last day in service the Street was towing three barges light from Sturgeon Bay, WI to Toledo when it caught fire eleven miles north of Port Sanilac. The crew managed to beach the ship where it burned to the waterline. The crew was rescued in one of the lifeboats from the Godfrey. Today it lies in 15 ft of water and is a popular dive site in the Sanilac Shores Underwater Preserve. The model was created from 1,632 thirty megapixel images shot in the 2023 season.
