The scanning was performed in order to perform high-precision measurements of the parameters of the roof and technological equipment, as well as communications located on the roof for the subsequent installation of a pitched roof. Due to the location on the roof surface of a large number of objects (technological equipment and communications), a large amount of time is required, persons performing measurements of objects. Devices (laser, construction, measuring tape, etc.) used in normal conditions for measurements have a fairly large error relative to FARO laser scanners, which does not allow them to make high-precision measurements. In addition, to carry out the above measurements in a short time, it is necessary to attract a large number of people, which entails large costs for the customer. After scanning the object, the received 3D point clouds were processed, the array of scan points was stitched into a single 3D point cloud model, and a 3D BIM model of the object was created in ArchiCAD.
