Chiesa di Santa Brigida in Valle Brembana3D Model
The original building was perhaps erected before the year 1000 by a community of Benedictine monks who dedicated it to the abbess Brigida, mistress of Ireland, founder of monasteries and educational communities. The architectural evolution of the building went through various phases, including the enlargement which took place in the second half of the fifteenth century. Important traces of the original construction remain in the architectural forms and paintings of the current one, whose physiognomy is the result of the radical transformation that occurred in the second half of the fifteenth century. The church has a single nave, divided into five pointed bays, supported by stone pillars, and the roof is gabled supported by decorated polychrome wooden beams and an exposed plank. The bell tower, with a pyramidal cusp, has a small bell tower with four openings. Outside there is a vast portico almost entirely decorated with frescoes. (Source: www.provinciabergamasca.com)
