A single vertebra associated with bony fish remains. This particular vertebra is swollen due to some pathological response and are commonly referred to as “Tilly bones” named after paleontologist Dr. Johanna Gabrielle Ottelie Edinger who went by “Tilly.” This excessive bone growth, or hyperostosis, occurs in marine fish and fossils like this are well-known, however the cause of the excessive growth is not understood.
