Church St. Joseph and cloister of the Carmelites3D ModelNoAI
The Church of St Joseph were initially built due to the efforts of the Carmelite sisters, who purchased a Calvinite manor with ramparts from Bełżec voivode Rafał Leszczyński. The church was completed in 1640. The sisters were based there until c. 1807 at which point it was made available to the male Carmelite Order and the sisters moved to another cloister at Staszica St in Lublin. The Carmelite Order renovated the college upon moving in, but in 1810 were removed by the local officials and moved to a the St Elijah College. They returned in 1841 and remained until the Order was disbanded in 1864. The college was turned into a jail. It was returned to the Carmelites in 1918.
