Two possible reconstructions of a decorated storage jar from Clachtoll broch, Assynt. The ceramic fragments were recovered from floor layers within the broch that have been dated through modelled radiocarbon determinations to the last half of the first century BC.
Over 100 individual pottery sherds were recovered from the broch. They were then analysed by artefacts specialists and separated into individual vessels, with ‘Vessel C’ being the most complete from the entire assemblage. The models here show two possible configurations for the fully reconstructed large vessel based on the analysis of the shape of the sherds recovered.
