Clypeaster in the DISTAV palaeontology collection (University of Genova) Clypeaster is a genus of sea urchin still living today. In the fossil record, Clypeaster is common in sediments dating to the Neogene (23.03-5.333 million years ago). This specimen was recently donated to the University of Genova from a private collector and was probably retrieved from Miocene deposits in southern Italy (Crotone)
