This mural was painted in 2016 by LA-based artist Lauren YS as part of the Sea Walls Festival. The mural draws attention to ocean acidification due to absorption of CO2 from the atmosphere. According to the artist, “Much of the world’s newly CO2 rich atmosphere is in contact with the surface of the ocean, killing kelp forests and sea life alike.”
