3D Model

This is a 3D model of a reusable coffee cup made out of bamboo and plastic, created by the student Tom Gerbert. Within the framework of the course “Digital Collections I” from the MA program Media Studies: Digital Cultures at Maastricht University. This object is part of the digital collection Virtual Time Capsule which gives an impression of the first quarter of the 21st century. The reusable coffee cup symbolized a change in thinking: A time when people realized that single-use plastic cups and the associated lifestyle harms the environment immensely and started to use more sustainable alternatives. Although society, in general, did not manage to decelerate, the awareness of the consequences of this lifestyle grew.

To create this 3D model the software Agisoft Metashape has been used. The cup is mainly turquoise with pink flamingos and white outlines of leaves on top of it. The measurements are: Diameter top: 95 mm Diameter bottom: 65 mm Scope top: 270 mm Scope bottom: 220 mm
