Komochimagatama (comma-shaped bead with small beads) is a large magatama with small magatama attached around it. It appeared in the middle of the 5th century and was seen until the 7th century. Nearly 500 items have been discovered in all of Japan and in South Korea, except Hokkaido and parts of the Tohoku and Kyushu regions. It is considered to be a ritual object, but its specific use is unknown. The komochimagatama introduced here is thick and has a strongly curved C shape. Children’s magatama are placed on the belly, back, and sides, but those on both ends of the back have a protruding shape. Talc is used as the stone material.
