Corded Ware culture in Lithuania is dated to 2800 - 2400 BC. This is a reconstruction of a cooking pot found in Šventoji 1 site. This site was situated at the shore of ancient and long gone lagoonal lake. Corded Ware people were not the first ones to settle along the coast of this lake. The lake was full of fish and atracted Stone Age comunities. Mesolithic fishers and Neolithic farmers made friends and enemies in Šventoji. The nature and consequences of these contacts have been intriguing archaeologists for a long time. However, Indoeuropean language, genes and archaeological finds suggest that imigrants from Central Europe overwhelmed the local comunities.
