My closest neighbors are a couple of grave yards.
The dead, when quiet, which to be honest is most of the time, make good neighbors and neither they nor I are often bothered by the living coming around. When I can, I just walk the rows and enjoy the solitude.
This one grave though perplexes me. It’s in and amongst much newer graves but has no stone. Just a random assortment of grave knickknacks that have, for decades, been slowly breaking down to their individual components.
Who was buried here? Someone used to know. They arranged the little ceramic angles and the concrete cherub just so. But that was forever ago. Now they’re gone too.
So just a corner of a forgotten grave.
