Conceptual autonomous race car. I wanted to find a way to showcase how easy and fun it can be to create an appropriately curvaceous body, as well as the “guts” of the vehicle using the tools provided by Gravity Sketch. The exterior is basically a modernized love letter to the E and D-type Jags of the past. Not only does the body bridge the gap between old and new, so to does the futuristic hybrid powertrain. This robotic race car puts the power to the ground via electric motors powering the front wheels, while the normally aspirated V-12 powers the rears. What looks like a driver, is actually the integrated AI and sensor suite. Cooling for all the onboard computing is aided by the rocker mounted heat sinks (meant to evoke the side pipe aesthetic of years past). All major systems -powertrain, suspension, steering, brakes, hybrid bits, computer stuff, etc - modeled in GS, entirely in 3D while immersed in VR. Inspired by the work of John Frye.
