Designed by the Corellian Engineering Corporation as a successor to the CR90 for the New Republic Navy, with a particular focus on performance against larger capital ships.

For that purpose it is armed with two heavy dual turbolaser batteries, and can carry a complement of up to four R-35 Arrowhead interceptors in its small hangar bay, as an escort against enemy fighters and bombers. These fighters can also be equipped with a small loadout of proton or ion torpedoes to aid in anti-capital ship duties

In addition it also features four forward mounted and two rear mounted dual laser cannons for point defence
