Se trata de un cráneo excepcionalmente bien conservado del género Cephalotropis. Este ejemplar fue hallado en Villanueva de la Reina (Jaén) y corresponde al Mioceno superior (Tortoniense). Actualmente se encuentra expuesta en el Museo de Paleontología de la Universidad de Granada. Una reconstrucción del cráneo, teniendo en cuenta las partes no preservadas, permite aproximar una longitud del cráneo de alrededor de 117 cm, y de la ballena completa, de alrededor de 7,5 m.
