More model informationA scale model in bronze showing the life-size Iguanodon statue erected in Crystal Palace Park, London, in 1853-1855. The models were probably made by sculptor Benjamin Waterhouse Hawkins.
The species that the Iguandon statues were based on has since been renamed Mantellodon (meaning ‘Mantell’s tooth’) after the famous scientist Gideon Mantell who described their fossil remains.
