More model informationThe CRL is currently conserving artifacts from the Civil War iron-clad CSS Georgia, and this brass sword hilt was one of the personal effects we did. This hilt is from a U.S. Model 1832 foot artillery short-sword hilt, and would have had a 25 inch blade. These swords were used mainly for clearing brush, so much so that the French version of the sword was called coupe choux (cabbage cutter).
