More model informationAn in-situ stem-mammal trackway at Cutties Hillock Quarry, Quarry wood, Elgin, Scotland. This trackway has been preserved on a bedding plane of Permian sandstone (Hopeman Sandstone Formation) dated as being very late in the Permian period. Stride length is minimal showing tracks made by a slow moving animal possible walking uphill on a dune face. The creature making the tracks was probably from the Dicynodont family altholugh the exact species will never be known. Dicynodonts fossils of Gordonia and Geikia have been found in this quarry in the years around 1880-1884.
