A Bichrome Ware Cypriot dish dating to the Cypro-Geometric period, 1050-750 BCE.
The interior is painted with two black concentric bands and circles, and the the rim and twin pierced lug handles are painted. The base is decorated with a flower motif encircled by concentric bands and lines. The dish has a diameter of 134mm.
The dish is on display as part of the ‘Cypriot Pottery of the Bronze and Iron Ages’ exhibition of the Hellenic Museum of Melbourne, and is on loan from the Peter Mitrakas and Mary Ann Savas collection.
