Czepiec jest elementem stroju ludowego Lubelszczyzny. To charakterystyczne nakrycie głowy pełniło szczególną rolę w obrzędzie weselnym – starościna nakładała je pannie młodej jako znak zmiany stanu. Od niego pochodzi nazwa “oczepiny”, używana do dziś.

Cap E/2121/ML

The cap is an element of the folk costume of the Lublin region. This headpiece played an important role in the wedding ritual – it was placed on the bride’s head by the matron of honor as a sign of her change in status. From it comes the term ‘oczepiny’, still used today.
