DAC, or Dynamic Assistance Cart, is a transportation system designed for BC Ferries to assist a growing number of wheelchair passengers to and from the terminal. Once passengers have been collected, the driver will transport passengers to the Lower Car Deck of the vessel where they will be assisted onto the elevator and given a wheelchair if needed. While on the ferry, the DAC will act as a temporary bike storage unit until the ship arrives at the opposite terminal. This process will repeat for the return trip. (Alternatively, this system can also be used as a luggage transportation/storage system)
Credits for the idea generation also goes to Chris Howard, Marina Dunn, and Guangming (Danio) Yang For more information, visit: http://www.spsvision.com/?p=304
